So I've wanted to do this for a long time because not enough people watch this fantastic show. It's just a general picspam with not a whole lot of spoilers, a sort of "get to know the awesomeness" kind of thing. The first season DVD is coming out today (and is also on iTunes). The second season starts on Thursday, June 12th at 9:30 on TBS, but if you're broke, you can check out the episodes for free on TBS.com Anyway, here we go. Enjoy!

PJ Franklin
My Boys follows PJ, a Chicago sportswriter, and her guy friends through their lives. PJ is essentially the girl next door, obsessed with sports, loves to play poker with her friends, and personally is one of my favorite females on television right now. She's sarcastic, awesome, and generally figuring out how to get through life with her best friends, who just happen to be guys. She does have one girl friend named Stephanie that pops in (more so during the second half of the first season) and tries to get PJ to be more girly, but PJ is more interested in being comfortable

Mike: Bottom line is that we need to go out and be piggish without you looking over our shoulders and, let's be honest, judging the prey that we then...snare.
PJ: Oh my God, that's disgusting. And shut up, I would not be judgmental of your women, okay? I never said anything about that total North suburban whore that you went up to Wisconsin...and shut up again, I know what I just did!

Kenny: Well she is still a fox.
Brendan: Amen.
Stephanie: Speaking of foxes...
PJ: Okay, hang on, I'm sorry you guys. Is "fox" back?

PJ: Some of us were raised to be kind to those in need.
Mike: Hey Peej, grab me a beer would ya?
PJ: Get your own.

Brendan Dorff
Brendan is PJ's closest friend; the two used to room together in college and have been inseparable ever since. He works as DJ for a local radio station and he tends to be a ladies' man, despite his on-off relationship with his longtime girlfriend Wendy. When that relationship is off, Brendan tends to crash at PJ's and they're just super tight.

PJ: Mike, you threw up when you got hit in the nuts with a water balloon.
Brendan: Yeah, but that's an entirely different beast.
Mike: Yes!
PJ: I'm sorry, you're saying it's worse to get hit in the nuts with a water balloon than get hit in the head with a baseball?
Brendan: Hey, that's how David took down Goliath.

PJ: A one-night stand, totally cool. A five-night stand? No, okay?
Brendan: Okay.
PJ: Thank you.
Brendan: She'll be gone first thing in the morning.
PJ: Dude, you're killing me.
Brendan: Come on, Peej. She is my super hot fan, okay? Let me play with my toy a little more?

Brendan: Hey. We're dead. You guys seen their pitcher? Throwing at least 80. I'm not saying let's forfeit, I'm saying seriously, let's forfeit.

Andy Franklin
Andy is PJ's older brother and the oldest of the group. He's also the only married one (with a daughter) and makes a lot of jokes at the expense of his marriage. Despite all his kidding, Andy's very devoted to his family and we see the relationship between Andy and his wife (Meredith) go through a lot of ups and downs.

Brendan: It's not about how good you are. I've seen Andy play Pyramid.
Mike: What do you mean?
[cut to Andy & Kenny playing Pyramid]
Kenny: Uh, it's a car without a top.
Andy: Broken car.
Kenny: It's the kind of car you might take to the beach, but you push a button and the top comes down.
Andy: Beach car?

PJ: All she wanted to do was spa and club.
Andy: I like your verbs that are things. I think I'll sandwich after I sofa.

Kenny: You're texting now. Like the kids.
Andy: Yeah. Meredith discovered she could text me any time and I can't use the excuse I can't talk. What is ROTFL?
PJ: It's rolling on the floor laughing.
Andy: I highly doubt that.

Kenny Morittori
Kenny is one of the more non-threatening guys of the group. He's not the most confident and tends to take girls out to coffee a lot instead of on actual dates, but he's overall, he's a really sweet, hilarious guy.

Kenny: Are you gonna be good? Because PJ's really good.
Andy: I'm gonna be...I'm gonna try my best.
Kenny: Ugh, you're gonna be one of those people who says stupid things like that.

Kenny: As fascinating as this is, I'm going to the bathroom.
Bobby: Ah, good. I'll come with you.
Kenny: I don't want you to go with me.
Bobby: I need to go to the bathroom. Come on. It'll be fun.
Kenny: This is disturbing on many levels.

Kenny: I always wanted to have a fan!
Andy: Well, you'll have to do something cool or important.
Kenny: Ah! I can do magic! I need a box and a saw, like a two person saw, and...[looks at PJ]
PJ: No.
Kenny: I can't do anything else cool.

Mike Callahan
Mike works with PJ at the office for the Chicago Cubs' and is hilarious. I mean, they're all hilarious, but Mike has moments more often than not where I'm laughing out loud at what he says. Mike is the one of the group who is the typical afraid of commitment guy, but he always has his humor to fall back on. He is probably closest to Kenny of the group and he's always ribbing on Kenny for not being more confident with girls and I love their banter.

(talking about PJ)
Andy: She's right, we should stay out of her private life. But do you remember that guy you dated, he was in the Heart cover band?
Mike: Oh! Nancy Wilson!
Brendan: No, no, he played Nancy Wilson; his name was Gary.
Mike: That's right, but he made everybody call him Barracuda!

Bobby: Look, Mike. I got you a job interview. It's with the Blackhawks; I know you hate hockey, but it's the best I could do.
Mike: No man, I don't hate it. It's just...I think it's stupid. It's soccer on ice with a stick.

Mike: Well listen, if you're not gonna ask her out, I am definitely going to ask her out.
Kenny: Wow, you just want to finish my beer for me too?
Mike: Well, if you're still interested I won't, but I figured since it's been a few months...
Kenny: Yeah.
Mike: Yeah what?
Kenny: Yeah, you know, I actually, I mean...might ask her out.
Mike: Seriously?
Kenny: I'm thinking about it.
Mike: You should wait longer 'til she has a husband and a couple kids, see how that works out.

Bobby Newman
Bobby....oh Bobby (I adore him so much). He's the new guy of the group and he serves as such a great device for the show because his character, along with the audience, is learning about this group along with him. But anyway, he works alongside PJ and there's a sort of romantic tension between them that is sort of played out through the first season. He's kind of awkward and doesn't have quite the obvious humor that Mike and Andy do, but he holds his own in the group.

Mike: PJ, this is Bobby. He's our new short-stop.
PJ: Hey [shakes hands] PJ. We've met before, haven't we?
Bobby: Yeah, yeah in the press box the other day. You borrowed my pen.
PJ: That's right, you're the new trib guy. So what the hell, that pen ran out of ink.
Bobby: That's why I had no problem lending it to you.

Kenny: Bobby, we have a problem with Mike.
Bobby: What kind of problem?
Kenny: A you-have-to-fire-Mike problem
Bobby: Why would I fire Mike?
PJ:Why would Bobby fire Mike?
Kenny: You have to. You made me hire him. Look, I'm very particular about how I do things at the shop, okay? Mike's got a lot of ideas.
Bobby: Dude, ideas are good. Light bulbs. Liberty. Beer. These things all started as ideas.

(talking about PJ's new boyfriend)
Kenny: He takes you to fancy places, that's all we know.
Mike: Yeah and we're not allowed in fancy town.
Bobby: I was there once. It was fun.

The best way for me to convey the awesomeness of this episode is to do a combined review/picspam, with emphasis on the pretty pretty pretty clothes. And since sleep is for the weak, enjoy :)

Josh: Drake! (laughs) He thinks he can beat me at everything!
Drake: I can pretty much beat Josh at everything. Like today -
Josh: Like today! Like today, LIKE TODAY!
Drake: I told Josh I could drink way more cups of coffee than he can.
Josh: Drake said he could drink way more coffee than me, oh yeah, he said that! That's what he said, he said it!
Drake: (drinks coffee cup) That makes 26.
Josh: 26 DOWN, COME ON!
Drake: The only bummer about drinking coffee is that it makes you feel all hyper and jittery.
Josh: You know, the only downside to drinking too much coffee is that makes you feel all hyper and jittery, hyper jittery jittery hyper jittery hyper AAAAAHHHH.
Drake: But Josh never said I couldn't drink decaf.
Josh: SOMEONE CALL A DOCTOR! (passes out)

Well, this intro is definitely going into my Top 5 of favorite intros EVER. It reminds me a lot of the intros for The Bet and Who's Got Game (I think, I'm trying to remember off the top of my head), where they always have crazy bets going on between them. OH BOYS.

And since I'm going to be doing commentary on the clothes, let's start here too: HI JOSH'S UNDERWEAR. Ahem. I love his shirt too; Josh is one of those guys that can wear a pink shirt and I don't immediately think "omgpinkshirt". And then there's Drake with his t-shirts; seeing all these Drake Bell pictures from the tour all summer, it gets tiring seeing him in suits all the time (not that I don't love it just...a little boring sometimes). But I love seeing him in t-shirts and jeans, ala Drake Parker. This show kills me fashion-wise, srsly.

Craig & Eric! I was SEVERELY disappointed at the lack of boyfriend-ness between them in the supposed "last" episode of The Really Big Shrimp, so it was ridiculous how much I flailed when Craig was all upset that his boyfriend was leaving him for Puerto Rico (if I wrote C/E...ooh, plot bunnies). I just want to point out that I love how Nickelodeon thinks Hawaiian shirts = dorks, because those two are always wearing them, generally paired with a sweatervest, like here.

And then there's Megan, who's fashion is always hit or miss with me. Sometimes I really like what she wears and other times I absolutely despise it. But this outfit I think is really cute; the boots are a little over the top, but I can live with that. The skirt/shirt combo is adorable.

WHY HELLO NEW FAVORITE DRAKE & JOSH CAPTURE. Both of them smiling, it's way too cute. I love Drake's outfit, even though we've seen a similar version to it from The Storm. And Josh, he just knows how to fill out a shirt now. I'll send him over to angelkutty ;)

The part with the random lady in the living room was weird, so I'm skipping that. I'm taking time to screencap from the theme song just to show how much I love these outfits (which is A LOT). I know that they always end the theme song with drinking soda, but season 4 is my favorite way they've ended it (and Josh is wearing the red shirt of love from The Treehouse!)

Josh, being the studious step-brother and trying to get Drake to promise to do his own homework (and calling him a good boy, lol). I love so much that Josh is wearing a "Space Camp" shirt; on anyone else, it would look like a hipster thing to try to pull off, but for Josh Nichols? He was there, he experienced the magic of Space Camp. He still gets excited over model rockets his Grammy mails him, for cripes' sake. Never change Joshy, never change.

Drake: Hang on, I'm doing something really important!

Favorite Part of the Episode, Part 1
- The pink striped polo shirt
- The tight 8 ball jeans from Josh Runs Into Oprah and other episodes, leading me to believe that those are Drake Bell's real jeans (Drake wears a LOT of his own clothes on the show and I bet Josh does too, but I wouldn't know because there are barely any pics of Josh outside his work)
- HULA HOOP. And subsequent butt shot, which just makes me laugh because c'mon, it's NICKELODEON.

Audrey + stripes = good
Drake + stripes = good
Audrey + Drake + stripes = what were the costume people thinking? They're both just so busy looking together.

But the things that I loved best about this scene:
Megan: How can you fail gym? All you have to do is show up!
Coach: And there in lies the problem.

Obviously, Megan for the win. And second of all, I bet I know what Drake Parker was doing, skipping gym for all those months ;)

And from this scene, I love what comes out of this episode: for once, the show actually sheds light on the fact that Drake doesn't do well in school and there could be consequences because of it. Of course, Nickelodeon doesn't follow through on the story line and it "sort of" gets solved, but just the fact that light was shed on it like this made me happy a little bit. Even more so now, I wish the show could've made it on a network as a great teen drama/comedy - a lot of story lines that the show has could be expanded a lot more dramatically (Josh dealing with being an overachiever, goody two shoes, and you KNOW Drake and Mindy would've hooked up at some point). ...This is entirely another tangent for another day.

Drake's dance partner, Emily. I just wanted to point out that angelkutty said in her review how much the actress who plays Emily looks like Brittany Snow (one of my favorite actresses) and in this picture, I could definitely see it. Plus, I wish my hair would wave like that.

Josh: I am so angry!
Megan: At who, the guy who sold you those clothes?

Josh apparently works out in 1987. I adore Megan's pajamas, they look like they came from Target.

DANCING! SWING DANCING! IN THE PINK POLO SHIRT OF AWESOME. KILL ME MORE BOYS (oh wait, there's more fangirl dying LATER)

Five bucks says Josh's glasses came from Drake (I just noticed he has such an 80s theme for his clothes going on for when he dances, which is kinda awesome). I really kinda hate Drake's jacket and Emily's dress/belt combo, but I thought it was hystericaly that Drake grabbed Emily by that belt when she went to lunge for Josh's new dance partner. I thought originally he had grabbed her by the waist, but apparently not. Touche, Drake.

Josh looks like he stole fashion tips from Marty McFly, as if he decided to mesh BTTF & BTTFII together (trust me, I am LOVING this). And as much as I adore Josh's outfit, NOTHING compares it to Drake. You cannot convince me that every piece Drake is wearing came from his own closet, srsly. *tackles*

Best line, hands down. And also? Fedora! Suspenders! Tie, OH MY!

I had to throw this in because originally, I thought Josh was wearing a red oxford shirt, which would've reminded me of the awesome that is his Premiere movie uniform. But in this cap, I realized it was a Jacket and...I'm just realizing how much of a dork I am. I hope you all appreciate this.

Oh no! The girls are unable to dance with the boys! WHAT WILL THEY DO?

Clearly, the answer is to dance the most awesometastic dance, ever. The end. Really, there are no more words for this entire sequence.

And on that note...the end. The end to one of the most perfect D&J episodes ever, for real. I've been waiting for this for a YEAR and I'm so glad it didn't disappoint. Who knows if there are going to be any other episodes, I'm perfectly satisfied with this being the end.

Okay, so while perusing marleybanana's journal, I got the idea for a picspam. But not just ANY picspam - a picspam of The Amanda Show. ...There's a good possibility I'm high on fandom!crack right now. Lord, I need some sleep.

ahaha, Popper Pants! Dan Schneider came up with the CRAZIEST little skit ideas. I think my favorite was when he dressed up in this red costume and gave out candy that made kids breathe out fire. Good times, good times.

The video store! "It's better! Muuuuuuuch better!" And I love that this skit, they parodied "Snow Day", Josh Peck's movie at the time (also, shameless plug for Nickelodeon Movies, but whatevs)

Drake dreaming of "The Drake Show". As much as I love Amanda Bynes, this is certainly and interesting idea :D

Just a collection of some random skits. The first one is from one of those little "commercials" and the second one is from the Hillbillies, hee! The third one is from the skit, "Mr. Gullible", but I put it in because seriously, Drake is wearing the worst wig ever. And the fourth one features Drake next to Ashley Tisdale - Nick stars & Disney stars collide! (and that's actually the second time she guest starred; the first time she had her natural brown curly hair and it was weird, no lie)

Haha, the boys dressed up as girls. It took me a sec to recognize Drake in his scene, but Josh? Omg, he was SO over the top and he slipped and fell during the scene, but he kept going anyway.

This is from the very first episode that Josh started on. I think it's also when the boys became best friends; there's an adorable interview where they talk about how they didn't really like each other at first, but then Drake says that Josh made him laugh by telling him so jokes and he was wearing a pretty cool jump suit (ie, the one Josh is wearing in the photos) and they became friends after that. OH BOYS *pokes*

Totally Kyle! Every network needs a semi-stoned acting guitar player, right? Especially a CHILDREN'S network.

Some random skits of Josh. Let me point out that Josh gets some pretty horrible wigs (ie that awful blonde one). Favorite part of this section? He's wearing an Old Navy Performance Fleece vest. Ohhhh the days.

Um, yes. Tony Pajamas & Paulie. Really I don't know how to elaborate any more other than they were simply made of awesome.

This is the blooper reel from the above Tony Pajamas & Paulie scene and it is pure, giggly, awesome-tastic LOVE. Words just can't even describe my love for this blooper reel.

CLEARLY, I'm super bored. So what does that mean? An idea that I've been thinking about for awhile now - a Drake & Josh picspam, concentrating on my favorite clothes that the boys wear. *dorks out*

Pic #01 & #02: Ah, the pilot episode. I really only love the blue shirt so much because of the second picture, which is from the D&J blooper reel on the "Suddenly Brothers" DVD. Sooo pretty.

Pic #04: I love how the first season is so all about the primary colors; re: Josh's BRIGHT RED shirt.

Pic #01: Josh needs to be clothed in blue all the freaking time. You'll see lots of evidence of this in this picspam
Pic #02: A lot of shirts Drake wore in the first season accented Drake's shoulders, but it didn't always look so great (at least to me). This shirt? Definitely the exception.
Pic #03 & #04: Drake's Jean Jacket! (hey miss_trombone, jean jackets are a force of nature, THROUGHOUT) Josh's Adorable Apron! ORANGE JUICE TWINS!

Goal: To watch a total of 100 movies in 2007, whether they are brand new or I've seen them before. No spoilers!

01 | Newsies (1992)
Christian Bale, David Moscow, Bill Pullman, Robert Duvall, Ann-Margaret
Director: Kenny Ortega

Summary: July, 1899: When Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise the distribution price one-tenth of a cent per paper, ten cents per hundred, the newsboys, poor enough already, are outraged. Inspired by the strike put on by the trolley workers, Jack "Cowboy" Kelly (Christian Bale) organizes a newsboys' strike. With David Jacobs (David Moscow) as the brains of the new union, and Jack as the voice, the weak and oppressed found the strength to band together and challenge the powerful.

How could I go wrong with a movie like Newsies? Everytime I watch it, I feel like I'm sixteen again (which was when I was first introduced to this piece of Disney magic). Christian Bale, the future Batman, singing and dancing like nobody's business? With a New York accent? Excuse me while I fangirl. Great musical numbers choreographed (and directed) by Kenny Ortega and a just a great dramatic story underneath all the flash of the music numbers. A Disney movie that is sorely overlooked.

02 | Bride & Prejudice (2004)

Director: Gurinder Chadha

Summary: A Bollywood update of Jane Austen's classic tale, in which Mrs. Bakshi is eager to find suitable husbands for her four unmarried daughters. When the rich single gentlemen Balraj and Darcy come to visit, the Bakshis have high hopes, though circumstance and boorish opinions threaten to get in the way of romance.

I will be the first to admit that I'm not really that big of a fan of the BBC presentation of Pride & Prejudice. Six hours long and the only good thing is Colin Firth in a wet t-shirt? I'll pass. But the great thing about Bride & Prejudice (the Bollywood version of the former) is that it can tell the same story in two hours and let it be a musical. Cinematographically speaking, it's one of the most brightly colored movies I've ever seen (especially in the market scene) and the actors are able to balance the comedy and drama of Jane Austen's story wonderfully (Nadira Babbar, the mother, is particularily great in her role). And yeah, the movie is a full two hours but it more than makes up for it with peppy song & dance numbers.

03 | Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993)

Summary: A spoof of Robin Hood in general, and 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves' in particular.

I wanted to like this movie. I really did; true_sarcasm certainly talked it up enough, telling me how funny it was. Ultimately, the movie fell really flat for me. I found most of the jokes to be entirely too predictable and I didn't really care for the characters. I have nothing against Mel Brooks; I love Young Frankenstein and The Producers. But Men in Tights did nothing for me. The highlight of the movie was seeing the actual musical performance of Men in Tights, but I wouldn't recommend this as one of Brooks' best.

04 | Psycho (1960)

Summary: A young woman steals $40,000 from her employer's client, and subsequently encounters a young motel proprietor too long under the domination of his mother

Aaah, the first slasher movie is essentially what Psycho boils down to. What can I say that hasn't already been said a thousand times? Perkins gives an amazingly spooky performance as Norman Bates and certainly sets the bar high for horror movies to follow after. Even though I'm such a wuss when it comes to horror movies, I can still watch this movie (albeit, with closed eyes are some parts - stupid shower scene *shivers). One of my favorite elements about this movie is the music; it's such an important part to any movie, but especially this movie. I remember the first time I ever saw this movie I was freaked out way early on in the movie and nothing had even happened yet. It was just Marion (Leigh) driving in her car (which by the way, features awesome voiceovers from the other actors - it really helps the story along).

Grade: A

05 | High Fidelity (2000)

Summary: Rob, a record store owner and compulsive list maker, recounts his top five breakups, including the one in progress.

Top 5 Favorite things about High Fidelity:
5. Random appearances by Denise Huxtable and Darlene Conner. Hello 80s tv stars!
4. The quirky narrative style where Rob (John Cusak) broke the "invisble" wall between himself and the audience. Particularily when he goes into his spiel about the four horrible things he's done to Laura.
3. It's the movie that made me finally get the amazingness of Jack Black. Seriously, everytime they show him in Championship Records it's instant hilarity.
2. It's so insignificant and very film-dork of me to notice this, but right as the movie is about to start and you see the Touchstone Production logo and as the light is coming across and when the light matches up with the beginning of You're Gonna Miss Me - The Thirteenth Floor Elevators. Coolest thing ever.
1. John Cusak. He throws himself absolutely into this character and you don't even see him as John Cusak - he really is Rob Gordon and you feel for him as he's just trying to make sense of himself and his past relationships.

Grade: A

06 | Blazing Saddles (1974)

Summary: To ruin a western town, a corrupt political boss appoints a black sheriff, who promptly becomes his most formidable adversary.

Maybe I'm just not a Mel Brooks fan and maybe I just have to make peace with that. Sure, some parts were funny, but overall I didn't find this movie to be anything astounding. I mean, it's pretty crazy to realize what Brooks got away with in this movie but overall I felt kind of bored watching it. Madeline Kahn was entertaining with her song of "I'm So Tired" and Little & Wilder were great in their scenes together. Frankly, my favorite scene was toward the end of the movie with Dom DeLuise as a crazy-ass director. Oh Dom DeLuise, you slay me so.

Grade: C+

07 | Night At the Museum (2006)

Summary: A newly recruited night security guard (Stiller) at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc.

The premise of this movie is cute: The Museum of Natural History comes to "life" for the night watchman when the museum shuts down for the night. But the first twenty minutes of the movie are a slow build up to the actual story and I found myself somewhat bored until then. With the exception of Zoolander, I'm not sure that Stiller should keep getting starring roles in movies (I haven't seen There's Something About Mary, but I could've lived life without seeing Meet the Parents and its sequel). I felt that the supporting characters gave much stronger performances (Van Dyke, Rooney, and Bill Cobbs are crazy!) that helped keep the movie going. I didn't exactly hate the movie overall (Robin Williams and Owen Wilson are fun to watch), but I wouldn't recommend rushing to the theater to go see it.

08 | To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)

Summary: Atticus Finch (Peck), a lawyer in the Depression-era South, defends a black man against an undeserved rape charge, and his kids against prejudice.

What can I say about this movie that hasn't already been said a million times over? To Kill A Mockingbird is quite possibly one of my favorite books ever and the movie is just as good, if not better. Peck delivers a killer performance as Atticus Finch (going on to win the Oscar) and the cast around him just shines. Love, love, love, LOVE this movie.

Grade: A++++

09 | Spartacus (1960)

Summary: The slave Spartacus leads a violent revolt against the decadent Roman empire.

I watched this for my Topics in History class and it was surprisingly better than I thought it would be. The script was entertaining (particularily whenever Batiatus was on screen) and the musical score was gorgeous. Overall the movie was pretty awesome and if you're in to Roman history and whatnot, it's definitely worth checking out.

Grade: A

10 | Jules et Jim (1962)

Summary: Decades of a love triangle concerning two friends and an impulsive woman

I only watched this movie because my film class made me. It's an old black and white foreign film about two men Jules and Jim (Werner and Serre) who are best friends (foreverz, omg) and they both meet this girl who they both end up subsequently being involved with in one way or another. There's not really too much to say here; the story was kind of interesting and Jeanne Moreau did a great job playing Catherine (the female lead). Considering that the movie takes place over a period of 15-20 years, the way the film was edited was pretty genius. But overall, the ending was weird and the director's last name reminds me of Truffles. Clearly, I got a LOT out of this film.

Grade: C+

11 | Because I Said So (2007)

Summary: A meddling mother (Keaton) tries to set her daughter (Moore) up with the right man so her kid won't follow in her footsteps

If the movie looked predictable and hokey from the trailer...that's because it was. It's a cute premise filled with lots of mother/daughter bonding moments (hell, I even went and saw this with my own mother) but in the end, the movie just kind of fizzled and came out awkward in the end.

It's pretty clear right from the start who Milly (Moore) is going to end up with and Graham and Perabo are vastly under-used (especially Graham, but I might be slightly biased because I'm such a Lorelai Gilmore fan. Although to her credit, Graham is pretty fantastic on her own as an actress). Keaton comes off spastic when she's trying to relate to all of her daughters' kooky sense humor and watching her performance is like watching a roller coaster; too many twists and turns that just end up coming off as dizzy. Besides Graham, the only performance I really enjoyed was Johnny (Gabriel Macht), who gives a pretty awesome turn as a soft-hearted musician. Also, the scenes with all the actresses are pretty fun (my mom even whispered to me at one point: "i'm sorry i didn't give you sisters"), but the movie concentrated way more on Keaton and Moore than I would've liked. Oh and sidebar: for those of you who are Arrested Development fans, check out a supporting role from one the cast members from AD.

Bottom line: if you're into predictable romantic chick-lit for the silver screen, this is definitely the movie for you. Otherwise, it's something that can wait to be rented from your local video store.

12 | Smokin' Aces (2007)

Summary: When a Las Vegas performer-turned-snitch named Buddy Israel (Piven) decides to turn state's evidence and testify against the mob, it seems that a whole lot of people would like to make sure he's no longer breathing.

I had really high expectations of this movie, so it kind of sucked that the movie wasn't as amazing as I had hoped it would be. In a nutshell, this movie is Ocean's Eleven on really trippy acid - cool camera tricks, hit men, an appearance by an Affleck, Andy Garcia; the resemblance is there, most definitely. But where Ocean's Eleven is cool, clean, and funny, Smokin' Aces is messy and just comes off as trying too hard. The plot is hard to follow at times, but everything is nicely wrapped up in the last thirty minutes. Personally, I thought it was far too gory considering how long it took to get to the point of the movie.

There are solid performances by Liotta, Reynolds, and Garcia - the ending with Reynolds really kind of pulled it together for me. Alicia Keys pulls out a surprising performance too and Jason Batemen's scenes are entertaining for the little time he's on screen. But in the end, I left the theater thinking "WTF was that?"

Grade: C+

HAPPY DRAKE BELL CD PREMIERE DAY

It's been a looooong wait for today, and now it's finally freaking here. And because my internet!twin angelkutty asked, here are my thoughts on the cd, track by track (and i'm in no way using this to procrastinate on my reading. NO SIR.)

UP PERISCOPE
if i could have a single wish i'd only wish to never miss it when you wake up and smile

I knew I was going to love this song. I just KNEW it. Ever since those videos from youtube from the House of Blues show came out in the summer and I was teased with a 50 second bad quality teaser of this song, I FELL IN LOVE. And now that I know the lyrics? So much more love. It's so freaking happy and poppy and screams of Yellow Submarine influences. I can't say enough good things about this song, i just love it too much.

I KNOW
just because you're a fan doesn't mean you've joined the band and found a way

Oh my GOD, I'm really kind of sick of this song. It's my own fault really, listening to it so much when it was released..a month ago? I mean, yeah it's a good song and I loved it when it came out. But I have no energy to review it, I've heard it way too many times.

DO WHAT YOU WANT
i can't make you stop and listen that won't save you...

The chorus is really catchy. It fits the vibe that Drake Bell keeps saying in all the interviews; how this album is really happy and up-tempo compared to Telegraph. But in Down We Fall, you know that crazy part where there were a ton of different sound effects like cows and whatnot? It's like they took that part of Telegraph and expanded it all through It's Only Time (like in this song, with all the birds singing).

IT'S ONLY TIME
you gave it away, I'm think about not taking it, you're faking it

I think this is the song that sounds most like Telegraph, compared to the rest of the record. Just pure, guitar rocking out kind of music and I like it a lot. The rest of the record, his voice is pretty smooth but on this song it's a little rougher and I like that. Again, I feel like this could've been a lost track to Telegraph.

FOUND A WAY (ACOUSTIC)
over your shoulder you know that i told i'd always be picking you up when you're down

Aaah, Found A Way. I'm a little sick of this song too, but the acoustic version is interesting. I don't know, I'm not really digging this track, probably for the same reason as I Know - I've just heard it so many times. And the vocals on this one seem a little off. Found A Way is sort of a "rock" song and Drake uses a more..scratchy (i don't know how else to describe it) voice when he sings the regular version. But he uses that same voice for this track and it sounds off because the music for it sounds so smooth (you can definitely tell this track is produced by Backhouse Mike btw - this is certainly his signature style). The whole track sounded off to me until around 2:21 when Drake's voice smooths out and just kind of melds with the rest of the song. It's so pretty that way! The sound effects are a nice touch, with the horns and everything - it reminded me of All You Need is Love (I'm definitely digging the Beatles vibe here).

MAKES ME HAPPY

This song...makes me happy (it had to be done). I'm just loving the fast, up-tempo-ness of the lyrics; it's just different from Telegraph, I can't get over it.

FOOL THE WORLD

I loved this song when it was released on Drake's myspace, what seems like forever ago. The lyrics are great, the music is catchy and my favorite part of all - Backhouse Mike sings! That man needs a debut album of his own because his music is just amazing (Get It Right on the D&J Go Hollywood movie? LOVE IT).

FALLEN FOR YOU

i reallllly love the chorus of this song. And the whole old Hollywood references in his songs, gah. It's like I've been waiting for this kind of music ever since I discovered mainstream music outside of the local oldies station back in third grade.

RUSTED SILHOUETTE

I was able to find the rough cut of this song a couple weeks ago when Drake & co. were still in the process of writing it and I'm so glad at how it turned out. I also like how Fallen For You melts into this song and how Rusted Silhouette just goes into Break Me Down and then it all goes down into End It Good. Even if Drake hadn't mentioned in interviews that he was trying to create the effect from "Abbey Road", I would've gotten it. ANYWAY, this song is another winner - although I haven't really found a loser yet.

The old Hollywood references! The 20s jazz-feel! Ukeleles! I LOVE THIS. My only complaint is that I wish it were longer. But this is the greatest end to a cd, in my opinion (except for maybe The Lady is A Vamp on the SpiceWorld soundtrack, ha).

- I missed last week's GG & VM, but for GG it didn't seem like I missed a whole lot. I was able to keep up with what was going on.

- Zack thinking the twins were Siamese? That was cute and then he was all calm when he realized they would just be regular twins. Naming them Marco & Polo! GENIUS ;)

- Mrs. Kim = hilarity. She should be in every episode.

- Luke being all freaked out over Lane was so in character too. Finally, somewhat of a glimpse of old!Luke. It was nice.

- I like Rory's new friends, whose names I don't remember but I know the one chick was Gia on VM. I don't know if it's because I just caught the rerun of the GG episode from season one where they go to the Bangles concert, but Rory's new friends reminded me a little of Louise & Madeline, but less flighty/slutty

- I thought it was cute how fake!Gia kept referring to her boyfriend as Boyfriend. But Boyfriend = Marty! And Marty was lame this episode - I don't understand why he acted the way he did, but it was really lame. Sidenote, Rory's hair looked awesome with the red in it.

- Rory's breakdown felt a little too real, to me at least. I'll be graduating with my associate's soon and I still have a few more years of school left to get my bachelor's, but still. The whole fog of not knowing what to do or what's next is pretty damn frightening.

- Lorelai and Christopher. LORELAIANDCHRISTOPHER. I'm really happy about how this is turning out. I've never hated Christopher, I've always really really liked that character. And now everything is falling into place for them and it just seems great. Luke/Lorelai were great in the sense that Luke kind of grounded Lorelai and he was solid for her, but he learned how she acted and the things that she likes, etc. He was able to change with her, but ultimately he was too stubborn and he couldn't catch up fast enough.

But with Christopher...it just seems more fitting now that the two of them end up together. Sure, Christopher gets Lorelai but I liked how the episode just showed how much history they have together. It goes beyond the fact that Christopher is Rory's father, it just shows how their friendship has grown and keeps growing since they were kids. And although I'm sad for the "death" of Luke/Lorelai (for now at least it seems like) because there was such a buildup of it in the show, I'm glad that the Lorelai/Christopher relationship took this long to get where it was. Christopher finally has his act together and it just seems to fit.

- With all that said, I can't believe they got married. Or more to the point, I can't believe that they didn't wait for Rory. I would hope that Christopher knows his daughter enough to know that she'd want to be a part of this, but I guess not. Next week's episode will be goooood. And Lorelai; "I hate how everyone is disappointed in my life not turning out the way they wanted" or something to that effect. Ah, can't wait.

- I also missed last week's VM, so it was a little harder to keep up with. I've gotta find my tape, mariposa12386 kept saying how great it was.

- Overall, I liked this ep alot.

- It's weird to see the Harmony/Keith relationship because Harmony is played by Laura San Giacomo. She and Enrico Colantoni's characters had a relationship on Just Shoot Me, so it's just weird. I keep waiting for David Spade to show up and say something snarky.

- Piz! Sleeping on the floor! I know there's a lot of Piz hate out there, but I adore him.

- Logan finding Veronica in the parking structure....gah, creepy. I'm glad that he found her in the sort of "right place at the right time" kind of thing, but to think Veronica was that close to the rapist...*shudder*

- Was it just me or did Meryl seem about as dumb as a stick? I mean, I get the whole trying to save the boyfriend thing but the whole scene at the River Styx could've been avoided if Meryl had just listened, especially if Veronica is bringing up the idea of bringing Lamb into a situation VOLUNTARILY. I don't know, I didn't like that story line as much. However, getting to see Vinnie Van Lowe was pretty awesome.

Drove for a half an hour out to class to find it to be CANCELLED. Which was awful, but it ended up being a blessing in disguise because I got to get work done for my critical analysis paper due in a couple weeks - score!

So while looking at the tracklisting for the new Drake Bell cd, look at this little gem I stumbled upon:

VH 1 has announced that they’ll be picking up a new reality series titled Man Band. It will feature members from five boy bands including Bryan Abrams - Color Me Badd, Rich Cronin - LFO, Chris Kirkpatrick - NSYNC and Jeff Timmons - 98 Degrees. The guys will be living together and will be challenged to create new music and then perform as a new pop group.

um, I'm SO there.

I also have tickets to see the Dancing With the Stars tour in January. Joey Lawrence, here I come! WHOA.
